Submit your original work to be considered for the cover of Chronogram and the magazine's "Parting Shot" to David Perry, Creative Director, at [email protected]. Please note: Chronogram does not pay for cover or "Parting Shot" art. All mailed artwork must come with a SASE in order to be returned.
Paintings/mixed media/photographs: 300dpi jpeg or tiff files at size are preferred. Cover: at least 10 inches wide by 13 inches high. Parting Shot: at least 8 inches wide. If emailing, please send sample work first as 72dpi jpegs.

Poetry submissions are considered on a monthly basis. Deadline for submission for a particular month is the 5th day of the previous month. (E.g. Sept 5Th is the deadline for submitting work for publication in the October issue.)Submit up to 3 poems or 3 typed pages for any particular month. Keep in mind that there is a limited amount of space for publishing poetry at Chronogram. Shorter pieces have a better chance of being accepted for publication. We ask that writers wait 3 months between submissions. Please allow 8 weeks before expecting a response from Chronogram. Submissions must include a mailing address, so we know where to send a copy of the magazine if your poem is published.

If you are submitting your work via email and your work has special formatting requirements, submit your poem(s) in one email attachment with your last name as the document name in MS-Word document (preferred) or almost any standard word processing format.
If you are submitting your work via email and your work has no special formatting requirement, then include your poem(s) in the body of your email message and use either "***" or "###" to indicate the end of each poem.
Select a standard font (Times New Roman, 11 or 12pt) one poem to a page, single-spaced with double spacing between stanzas. (The only exception here may be for haiku.) Leave at least a one-inch margin on all sides of the page.
Include your name, address, phone number and email address on separate lines, single-spaced in the upper left or right corner of each poem. (If you write under a pseudonym, you still should use your legal name here and put your pseudonym one line below the end of the poem preceded by a "-", e.g. -Mark Twain.)
The title of your poem should appear in all caps or initial caps (preferred) about six lines underneath your contact information, centered or flush left. The poem should begin one line beneath the title.
If a poem does carry over to a second sheet, list your name in the top left margin. Underneath your name include a key word from the poem's title, the page number and information on whether the lines at the top are a continuation of the same stanza or the start of a new one (e.g., SILENCE, page 2, continue stanza or begin new stanza).
Spell check and proofread carefully.
In the event of email submission and you have provided a valid email address you will receive a reply via email.

Fold manuscript, five pages and under, neatly into thirds (do not fold poems individually) and mail in a business-size (#10, 4 1/8 x 9 1/2) envelope. For a manuscript over five pages, fold in half and mail in a 6 x 9 envelope.
To receive a response to your submission (and to have your manuscript returned), you must enclose a SASE. If you desire a reply only, include either a SASE or an email address and inform us that the manuscript is disposable.
rights:
Upon acceptance, Chronogram is licensing one-time nonexclusive print rights to the work and nonexclusive web rights in perpetuity to the work. Chronogram only requires that at the time of publication (the month in which the work is to be published) the work is not to be published elsewhere. However, simultaneous submission is ok.
At the present time, Chronogram is unable to compensate contributing poets for the privilege of publishing their work.
