Halloween is just a week away, but the celebrations start now! While apple picking and haunted houses are an annual fall tradition in the Hudson Valley, local breweries, music venues, and even ice cream shops have come together to throw the spookiest parties. Get prepared for scary costume contests, dance parties, and local bands to serenade you into the Halloween spirit this weekend into the 31st.
Halloween Party & Karaoke | Clermont
This Thursday evening on October 24, don your favorite costume and head to Tin Barn for a spine-tingling evening of karaoke. For those eager to sing, seize the chance to flaunt your vocal skills and belt out the hits with spooky Halloween classics. For a vocal rest, you can visit Alma’s Tacos, who will return with delicious Mexican fare, alongside your preferred drinks. Prizes will be awarded for the best costumes and most impressive singing talent. The party is a free event starting at 6pm.
Haunted Mill and Monster’s Ball | Wassaic
The Wassaic Project’s Haunted Mill and Monster’s Ball is packed with a diverse selection of horror-themed art and activities. Take a walk through a haunted forest and garden and visit the creepy crawly creatures in a vintage horror set. You can catch the outdoor open mic set, “skaryoke,” and a human puppet show. Once you’ve gotten your fix at the Haunted Mill, get ready for live music and dancing at the 21+ Monster’s Ball, which will feature an exciting costume contest. The Haunted Mill is open October 25-27, from 4pm to 7pm. The Monster’s Ball begins at 7pm on October 26 and runs late in the night. Advance tickets and a costume are required for the Monster’s Ball, but not the Haunted Mill.
Moon Serpent & Bone Market at City Winery | Montgomery
City Winery’s sprawling industrial-meets-modern campus in Montgomery becomes the setting for another magical evening of strange and unusual delights at this night market. Shop from vendors like Elder Sisters Apothecary and Osteal Blossoms while enjoying live performances from Diiiotima Arts, who makes their second Moon, Serpent & Bone October appearance at this Orange County venue. Stop by on October 25 from 6pm to 12am.
The Avalon Lounge Halloween Party | Catskill
Bar, restaurant and music venue The Avalon Lounge invites the Hudson Valley to party at their Halloween costume contest on October 25 at 8 pm. Dance to DJ Yan Levy and enjoy sake, cider and an array of cocktails from the bar. The best costume of the night earns $100. Tickets are $10 at the door.
Peekamoose’s EPIC Halloween Bash | Pine Hill
On October 25 from 8pm to midnight head to Peekamoose restaurant in your best spooky costume and dance the night away to a live DJ. Besides the costume contest and festive music, you can visit a tarot card reader, get some killer cocktails, or fill up on the buffet. There will be prizes towards the end of the night. Tickets for the 21+ guests are $55.
7 Kegs of Hell | Hudson
Hudson Brewing Company is once again hosting its 7 Kegs of Hell on October 25. Music by cover band Guilty Pleasure starts at 8pm and the party goes until late. This free event includes a costume contest and drink specials. Wear your spookiest outfit and try Hudson Brewing’s drafts.
Halloween Throwdown at Rolling Cones | Kingston
Airstream “ice cream truck” the Rolling Cones closes out its inaugural season at Kingston Standard brewery with a Halloween bash on October 27 from 4pm to 8pm. Besides beer and ice cream, you can carve pumpkins, compete in the costume contest, and enjoy cozy hot drinks and pizza.
Halloween Bash: Cowboys in the Campfire / Dust Bowl Faeries | Hudson | Park Theatre
Tommy Stinson’s latest project, Cowboys in the Campfire, features fellow musicians Chip Roberts and Michael “Chops” LaConte. Released in 2023, the band’s debut album, Wronger, is a mix of Americana, pop, folk, rockabilly and classic country. Hudson Valley-based Dust Bowl Faeries offer an Eastern European faerie-tale fusion of dark cabaret and gothic polka music. On Halloween night, October 31 at 8pm, join these two musical projects for a costume contest at the Hudson theater. Tickets are $25 for adults and free for kids.
Rocky Horror Halloween Extravaganza | Woodstock
Bearsville Theater presents a live performance of the cult classic Rocky Horror Picture Show on Halloween night, October 31 at 8pm. The show will feature a roster of local talent Sean Matthew Whiteford, Joey Eppard, Gene Taylor (“The Voice”).
