Thurston Moore

On Tuesday I posted about the GoFundMe campaign currently running to assist Woodstock guitar genius Peter Walker in the aftermath of the fire that destroyed his home (https://www.gofundme.com/hcd65-rebuild-the-ark). As I mentioned then, one of Walker’s forward-thinking admirers is Sonic Youth founder Thurston Moore—who will perform at BSP tomorrow night.

Dubbed an evening of New Noise Guitar Explorations, the set will find Moore playing 12-string electric guitar and focusing on extended instrumental compositions. His band for this brief Northeastern tour includes ex-Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley, My Bloody Valentine bassist Deb Googe, and Thurston Moore Group guitarist James Sedwards. Moore’s most recent album is 2017’s Rock ’n’ Roll Consciousness.

Ingest this promotional video for the Rock ’n’ Roll Consciousness track “Smoke of Dreams”:

The Thurston Moore Group will appear at BSP in Kingston, New York, on November 2 at 7:30pm. Opening the show are the duo of keyboardist Wobbly (Negativland) and spoken word artist Byron Coley (Forced Exposure zine). Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.
