A recent graduate of SUNY Ulster, Camille Hebert is now an undergraduate at SUNY Purchase, where she is studying arts management. The untitled photo above was taken at the Shawangunk Grasslands National Wildlife Refuge, outside the village of Wallkill. The refuge is the site of the former Galeville Military Airport, which the Department of Defense transferred to the Fish and Wildlife Service in 1999, is one of New Yorkโ€™s top 10 areas for grassland-dependent migratory birds, including short-eared owls, bobolinks, and many species of sparrow.
Hebertโ€™s photographs will be shown as part of โ€œStudent Works 2010โ€ at SUNY Ulsterโ€™s Muroff-Kotler Visual Arts Gallery in Stone Ridge, April 28 through May 19.
