Itโ€™s Hudson noise nuts the Bunnybrains who blazed the freaky trail for underground performance art-oriented music in the Columbia/Dutchess county zone. But Pine Plains oddball Burt Murder, who plays Spotty Dog Books & Ale on January 19, is the areaโ€™s latest waver of the weirdo flag, after moving up fromโ€”where else?โ€”Brooklyn.

Rocking a wacky, wacky, wacky camp-drag persona, Murder makes lo-fi, experimental dance pop, which heโ€™s documented across four albums thus far. The Spotty Dog date certainly sounds intriguing. Billing it as the Hot Dog Boat Collaborative Songwriting Workshop of โ€œrecord-breaking songs about hot dogsโ€ and promising โ€œbeer-boiled hot dogs and a person dressed as a hot dog,โ€ the ginger-bearded musician asks audience members to โ€œbring an instrument and be ready to write, sing, and jam.โ€ I certainly hope someone gets video.

Speaking of video, hereโ€™s one for the feel-good hit โ€œI Ripped My Dick Off.โ€ Enjoy.

Burt Murderโ€™s Hot Dog Boat Collaborative Songwriting Workshop will happen at Spotty Dog Books & Ale in Hudson, New York, on January 19 at 7pm. Admission is free. For more information, call (518) 671-6006 or visit http://www.thespottydog.com/.
