The 1990s and 1980s hitmakers will be among the performers at the family-friendly event.
It’s almost October, and Halloween is nigh. That means it’s about to be prime time in Sleepy Hollow, the site of Washington Irving’s spooky 1820 tale of Ichabod Crane and the Headless Horseman. To celebrate the season, the Sleepy Hollow Music Festival will light up the village on October 3 with performances by Everclear, the Smithereens with Marshall Crenshaw, and others.
Led by singer and songwriter Art Alexakis, grunge-era hitsters Everclear were MTV regulars in the mid-1990s. Since the 2017 passing of founding frontman Pat DiNizio, the Smithereens have continued with a rotating cast of lead singers. For the Sleepy Hollow set, they’ll feature power pop mainstay Marshall Crenshaw, a headliner in his own right. Also appearing live on stage at the festival will be Fastball (“The Way”), Sophie B. Hawkins (“Damn I Wish I Was Your Lover”), SoulShine: An Allman Brothers Experience, Anthony Giaccio and the Assortments, Rachel Ana Dobken, Imposters, the Altogether, and students of the School of Rock Briarcliff Manor; a live DJ will spin ’90s hits between acts.
The Headless Horseman himself will wander the fest for photo ops, and a costume parade, kids’ zone, witches, haunted hayride, pumpkin carving, Halloween crafts, Halloween-themed eats and treats, and beer/wine garden will add to the festivities.
The Sleepy Hollow Music Festival will take place at Kingsland Point Park in Sleepy Hollow on October 3 from 11am to 8pm. Ticket prices vary (advance and group tickets are available)
