Overview:

The event will feature performances by the Michael Veitch Band, the BlueBirds, and Big Deep.

With the threat of all-out authoritarianism and the loss of decades of social progress staring us straight in the face, the importance of voting in the November 3 midterm election (early voting is open now through November 1) can’t be overstated. And to help drive that idea home, local bistro Pearl Moon will host a get-out-the-vote concert to benefit Common Cause New York featuring the Michael Veitch Band, the BlueBirds, and Big Deep on October 28.

Area folksinger and songwriter Veitch, who cites Bernie Sanders as a mentor, just released the covers album Discovered, which features his versions of songs that have impacted him over the decades. His music appears in the PBS documentary We Remember Songs of Survivors, his song “Veteran’s Day” has been covered by Judy Collins. For the show, Veitch’s band includes drummer Jerry Marotta, bassist Kyle Esposito, and keyboardist Paul Duffy. Harmony group the BlueBirds are comprised of veteran Woodstock-area singers Amy Fradon, Kirsti Gholson, Julie Last, and Julie Paris and focus on singing songs of change. Newly formed local band Big Deep “blends elements of indie soul, timeless rock, elemental fusion, and voracious groove.”

Sponsored by the League of Women Voters, the Get Out the Vote Night concert starring the Michael Veitch Band, the BlueBirds, and Big Deep will take place at Pearl Moon in Woodstock on October 28 at 6pm. Proceeds will benefit Common Cause New York, a nonpartisan grassroots organization that works to strengthen democracy against the challenges it faces today. A $20 donation is suggested.
