First up is the debut single by a new local duo.
Welcome to a new feature. In today’s short-attention-span world, many artists are focused on releasing and promoting individual songs, rather than traditional full albums or EPs. In light of this trend, Chronogram is launching HOT TRACK, an occasional (at this point) web-only column spotlighting a lone, recently released song by a local band or solo artist. To debut this component, we offer here a new cut by the intriguingly named Rattlesnake Rectum.
The electro rock duo Rattlesnake Rectum is made up of Patrick Manian and Alex Letourneau. Manian, an essayist who released a solo album called Cranky in 2025, was also one half of another duo, the short-lived Large Teenz.
The track we’re highlighting here is “Apollonius Identity,” the first single by this newer project, which Manian says was inspired by San Francisco State University mathematics professor Sheldon Axler. Enjoy.
