Hudson Valley Farm & Flea Market Returns March 24 & 25

The vintage vibe of Newburgh’s Motorcyclepedia Museum recalls a wholesome era when goods were made by hand and food was grown at the farm down the road. This quality of nostalgia and authenticity make it a fitting backdrop for the Hudson Valley Farm & Flea Market, which will take place there on March 24 and 25. From skincare to hard cider, 50 makers, growers, and thrifters will congregate to sell their artisanal goods amidst displays of gleaming retro motorcycles.

This is event curator Laurie Perrone’s fourth market and first two-day event. An entrepreneur and designer, Perrone spearheaded the inaugural Farm & Flea gathering in November 2016 as a way to get businesses like her own noticed in the community. She is founder of Farm2Fashion, which will have a booth at the March market.

“We feel this is so important because it’s an opportunity to bring people into the neighborhood here and explore,” she says. “People want to be a part of the Hudson Valley because they live here, but many don’t know what’s right in their backyard. Newburgh is having a huge resurgence of business and stores. We want to bring people here to see what they’re missing.”

Circleville resident and past contestant on Fox’s reality television show The Four, Kendyle Paige, will perform three songs on Saturday, March 24 at 3pm. The young performers of Riverside Theatre Arts will also sing for guests. Short, kid-friendly films will be shown in the museum’s train car-turned-theater.

Newburgh-based coffee lounge Blacc Vanilla will provide food throughout the weekend. Other participating vendors include Damn Good Honey Farm, Hudson Valley Marshmallow, Janice’s Jewelry Boutique, and Curious Vintage Shoppe. Local nonprofit organizations Unshattered, Storm King Art Center, and Play for Your Freedom will also be in attendance.

The farm and flea market runs twice a year in March and November. The spring 2018 event will be on March 24 and 25 from 10am to 5pm at Motorcyclepedia Museum in Newburgh. Admission is $5 and includes access to the museum.
