Mdou Moctar

Okay, so you may be a little pooped from partying on New Yearโ€™s Eve.But put your lethargy aside. Because you need to rally your ass and get it to Quinnโ€™s next Tuesday for the area return of West African guitar god Mdou Moctar.

Raised in a remote village in the Nigerian desert, Moctar takes the Tuareg traditions and nomadic poetry of his linage and conjures a flowing, rock-influenced โ€œdesert bluesโ€ sound that feels ancient, modern, organic, and effortless. Makers of some of the most incredible music this writer has ever experienced in a live setting, Moctar and group are not to be missed. Seriously.

Think I’m playin’? Bask in the flowing warmth of Moctar and and band on Seattle’s KEXP last May:

Mdou Moctar will perform at Quinn’s in Beacon, New York, on January 1 at 8pm. Tickets are $15. For more information, call (845) 802-7447.
