Poem: The Best

The Best

the best thing is
on a hot day
with no money in your pocket
in a strange college town
after a fairly stupendous
evening
of whiskey drinking
finding a water fountain
which spouts a cool and delicious
water
right next to a gently
sloping shady hillside
so you can drink plenty
of fluids
and doze off
admiring the clouds
while waiting to go
to court
feeling like the freest of men
