Overview:

The two female-led indie projects will hit Albany on October 6.

Iconic Capital Region venue the Egg has been picking up the pace with its ongoing artistic revitalization, bringing in more up-and-coming artists alongside the legacy performers it regularly hosts. One example: the double bill of indie acts Snail Mail and Soccer Mommy, who share the bill on October 6.

Snail Mail is the musical project of Maryland-born actor and singer-songwriter Lindsey Jordan. The new Ricochet is Snail Mail’s third album and its first in five years. ‘Her music is laid-back, gently hooky, and complements the poetic vagueness of her lyrics,” writes Paste magazine’s Madison Desler. “There isn’t enough detail for you to know exactly what she’s talking about, but you understand the mood.”

Sophie Allison is the brains behind Soccer Mommy, whose edgy, melodic take on alternative rock has been called “bubblegrunge” by several music press outlets. In 2024, her band released its fourth album, Evergreen, whose songs largely deal with personal loss and have drawn comparisons to Joni Mitchell and Emmylou Harris via Allison’s singing style.

Snail Mail and Soccer Mommy will perform at the Egg in Albany on October 6 at 7pm. Tickets are $31.
