Each month here we visit with a member of the community to find out what music theyโve been digging.
Iโve usually got a lot of new indie in heavy rotation on my playlists, but at the beginning of January, in honor of National Screenwriters Day on January 5, I devoted an entire episode of my show to playing songs from movies I love. Among them, Moonlight (brilliantly scored by Nicholas Britell of โSuccessionโ) and Bjorkโs Selmasongs: Music from the Motion Picture Dancer in the Dark. It is an amazing experience to listen to an exceptional score, even if you have never seen the film. What music can do to create a vivid, emotional landscape without the accompaniment of visuals is incredibly powerful. Recommended: โBlack Themeโ and โHello Strangerโ from Moonlight and โScatterheartโ and โThe Musicalsโ from Dancer in the Dark.
