To benefit Ukrainian refugees, the Woodstock Film Festival will present a screening of the documentary National Museum followed by a Q&A with its award-winning director, Andrei Zagdansky, at the Rosendale Theatre on May 5 at 7pm.

National Museum (2021) examines the art and inner workings of the titular art institution in Kyiv, Ukraine. In the film the museumโ€™s restoration specialists, curators, art handlers, designers, and visitors are fascinating characters in an unhurried, poignant, and occasionally humorous โ€œsurvey of what is cherished and revered by the nation of 45 million.โ€

The renowned Latvian filmmaker and animator Signe Baumaneโ€™s animated short The Witch and the Crow will be shown prior to National Museum. The Q&A with Zagdansk after the main feature will be hosted by Baumane. Proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to Cash for Refugees, which assists the most vulnerable refugeesโ€”women with children, the elderly, and the disabledโ€”and provides them with the means to buy what is needed to survive their ordeal.

The Woodstock Film Festival will screen National Museum at the Rosendale Theatre in Rosendale on May 5 at 7pm. Tickets are $25. All entrants must be vaccinated.
