Jeff Cohen stops by to talk about his recent fact-finding trip to Israel and the Palestinian territories. On Friday, December 6, at 7pm Cohen will be speaking at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Kingston about this trip. Cohen spent 10 days among the growing nonviolent resistance movement in the Occupied Territories, which echoes the civil rights movement here in the 60s and the anti-Apartheid struggle in South Africa.
Cohen lives in Woodstock, and is the founding director of the Park Center for Independent Media at Ithaca College, where he holds an endowed chair in the journalism department, which sounds pretty fancy.
Hereโs an abbreviated list of Cohenโs accomplishments:
He founded the media watchdog group Fairness & Accuracy in Reporting in 1986.
Heโs coauthored 5 books on the media, one of which, Cable News Confidential is about working for MSNBC and getting fired along with Phil Donahue on the eve of the Iraq War.
He was the Communications Director for Dennis Kucinichโs presidential campaign in 2003.
