As a teaser for my annual music festival round-up in the June issue of Chronogramโ€”and as an excuse to let you know about a fine multi-act event coming up before that edition hits the standsโ€”I wanted to let you know here about Beacon’s In the Pines festival, which happens on May 25 at the town’s wooded University Settlement Camp (USC).

Presented by tireless area promoter and musician Stephen Clairโ€™s Local 845 organization, In the Pines has been occurring a couple of times per year since its 2010 launch. This installment features long-running New York underground fave Babe the Blue Ox (video below), plus Higher Animals, Monski, the Stephen Clair Trio, and Knock Yourself Out.

In the Pines takes place inside the theater building at the University Settlement Camp in Beacon on May 25 beginning at 5pm. Food vendors will be on hand. Tickets are $10 and $15. For tickets and information, visit Local845.com.

Peter Aaron is the arts editor for Chronogram.
