New York’s legacy for home-made spirits continues to live on in the Hudson Valley as Karl and Susan Johnson introduce Beacon’s first craft distillery. The grand opening of The Dennings Point Distillery invites the community to the facility and tasting room, on September 20, for a night enriched in craft spirits.

Johnson and his wife, Susan, use the finest Hudson Valley wheat, rye, corn and barley, and New York state malt to produce farm-to-bottle rye, bourbon, whiskey, vodka and gin. “Viskill” Vodka and “Beacon Premium Reserve” American Whiskey are the first to be introduced at the distillery. Later this year a rye whiskey and aged bourbon are expected to join the collection. Spirits are available for purchase, along with souvenirs.

The distillery resides in a 2,800-square-foot renovated garage in one of the classic 19th century building in downtown Beacon. A custom-made 250-gallon copper pot still from Kentucky’s Vendome Copper and Brass Works will soon accompany the Denning’s Point Distillery nestled at 10 North Chestnut Street (street level), between Main and Church Streets.
