Gary Lucas

Called one of the 100 greatest living guitarists by Classic Rock magazine, Gary Lucas is best known for his membership in Captain Beefheartโ€™s Magic Band and as a sideman to Jeff Buckley. On December 3, the New York guitar god himself will return to Quinnโ€™s for a rare solo acoustic set.

Besides Beefheart and Buckley, Lucas has also performed with such icons as Leonard Bernstein Lou Reed, John Cale, Patti Smith, Allen Ginsberg, Iggy Pop, David Johansen, Bob Weir, Chris Cornell, John Zorn, Bryan Ferry, Dr. John, and Nick Cave, among countless others. The coauthor of Buckleyโ€™s โ€œMojo Pinโ€ and โ€œGrace,โ€ he also founded the band Gods and Monsters, which accompanied Buckley in the early 1990s. For the Beacon performance, heโ€™ll be joined by local musician Jordan Shapiro.
