The saying goes that home is where the heart is. But in Hudson it’s also where the bass is—as in hard-thumping bass guitars. Three of ’em. And of course there’s always room for cello. (Last time I use that pun, promise.)

Tickets go on sale December 18 at noon for "Home Bass," a January 27 concert benefitting Habitat for Humanity at Club Helsinki in Hudson. The event brings together four of the world-renowned musicians who live in and around the town: bassist Melissa Auf der Maur (Hole/Smashing Pumpkins), singer-bassist Meshell Ndegeocello, bassist Tommy Stinson (Replacements/Guns N’ Roses), and singer-cellist Melora Creager (Rasputina).

Hosted by Auf der Maur, the intimate program will present numerous special guests, such as acclaimed singer-songwriter NYC Subway Girl (aka Cathy Grier), in a cabaret-style setting. The rare occasion marks the first time international stars Auf der Maur, Ndegeocello, Stinson, and Creager have appeared together on the same stage.

The show will raise funds for Columbia County Habitat and its innovative Columbia Passive Townhouses housing project. Currently under construction at 244-246 Columbia St. in Hudson, these revolutionary dwellings are designed to reduce their owners’ energy consumption and costs by a staggering 90 percent. Together, the units make up the first affordable housing site adhering to Passive House design and construction standards to be built in New York State.

Tickets for the 7pm concert are $50 for reserved club seating, $30 for bar seats, and $20 SRO. Tickets can be purchased by phone only at (518) 828-4800.
