Born and raised in Music City, USAโ€”Nashville, Tennessee, in case you didnโ€™t knowโ€”Laura Cantrell studied accounting in college. Thankfully for lovers of real-deal country sounds, however, sheโ€™s augmented her career as a Bank of America numbers-cruncher (and host of WFMUโ€™s โ€œRadio Thrift Shopโ€) with her better-known vocation as a critically acclaimed singer-songwriter and recording artist. On the heels of No Way There From Here (Spit and Polish Records), her fifth studio album, Cantrell will perform at BSP Lounge on April 24.

Recorded in her hometown, No Way There From Here is Cantrellโ€™s first originals-dominated release since 2005โ€™s Humming by the Flowered Vine (Matador Records). The new disc has drawn praise for its makerโ€™s bell-clear voice and the highly personal feel of her story-songs, which, Rolling Stone says, โ€œilluminate more than explainโ€”just enough to make you want to hear โ€™em again.โ€

Cantrell recently sang the albumโ€™s single โ€œStarry Skiesโ€ on CBS TVโ€™s โ€œThis Morningโ€:

Laura Cantrell will perform at BSP Lounge in Kingston, New York, on April 24 at 8pm. Wygalator and Adir L.C. open. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 day of show. For details, call (845) 481-5158 or visit http://bspkingston.com/.
