
While none of the Roger Michell’s biopic was actually shot in Dutchess County, where the action of Hyde Park on Hudson is set, during a royal visit in 1939 when King George VI (Damien Thomas) and Queen Elizabeth (Olivia Colman) came calling on the president at his Hyde Park home, the film has been generating a great deal of buzz about our fair region.
At a special screening today at 1:30pm, screenwriter Richard Nelson will talk about crafting the script of the film, which centers around the affection between FDR (Bill Murray) and his distant cousin Daisy Suckley (Laura Linney). Were they lovers? The film hints at the possibility, but draws no definitive conclusions.
