“Hudson Valley Ballers” is a new web comedy series from longtime “SNL” writers Paula Pell and James Anderson. (The “ballers” in the title seems to be a shortening of “queerballers,” referring to the sexual orientation of the main characters in the show. I had to look that up.)
The premise of “Hudson Valley Ballers”: Two old friends move from the city to open a “Bed & Brunch” in the Hudson Valley. Think of it as “Portlandia” for East Coasters. A satire of local customsโanimal husbandry, yoga, encounter groupsโbut with the edge and bile New Yorkers expect. Paul Rudd also stars.
(Local color: In the opening credits, there’s a brief shot of the Rondout Creek from the railroad trestle bridge on the Hudson Valley Rail Trail in Rosendale.)
