Calling all altrockers and grunge fans—PledgeMusic has some news that may perk up your ears. Woodstock resident Tracy Bonham’s hit debut album The Burdens of Being Upright has gotten an update.
Modern Burdens contains re-recorded and re-imagined versions of The Burdens of Being Upright songs as well as some fresh originals, recorded with Late Cambrian’s John Wlaysewski and Blue Man Group drummer Todd Perlmutter, among other special guests.
Bonham’s original album included “Navy Bean,” “Kisses,” “Brain Crack,” and the Billboard chart topper “Mother Mother.” Check out the video from ‘96 below:
Much has changed in the twenty years that Bonham’s Grammy-nominated album was released—Bonham has become a mother, and Ross Perot-style election suprise has morphed into the Donald Trump election season tumult. In 2016, “Mother Mother” gets a lyrical revamping, addressing the current Trumpian political climate.
Humor is also a part of the release. Celebrity guest collaborations are scattered throughout this project, including “Saturday Night Live” and “Portlandia” actor Fred Armisen. He appears alongside Tracy in the comedic PledgeMusic exclusive video “The Audition.”
Pledgers that pre-order will receive an early release digital download, behind-the-scenes view into Bonham’s recording process, and limited edition merchandise.
