After a year and a half on Warren Street, Banque, the European-inspired café, patisserie, chocolate shop, and wine bar housed in a restored 1920s bank building in Hudson, has paused service for the summer as ownership considers the next chapter for the business.
In a statement announcing the pause, Banque cited staffing challenges as the reason for the decision.
“Like many hospitality businesses, we have faced ongoing staffing challenges that have made it increasingly difficult to deliver the level of quality, hospitality, and experience that has always been at the heart of Banque,” the statement reads. “Rather than compromise those standards, we believe it is the right time to step back, regroup, and thoughtfully consider what comes next.”
Opened in January 2025, Banque brought an ambitious European café sensibility to Hudson’s dining scene, pairing coffee, pastries, and house-made chocolates with a wine bar program. The space itself was central to the experience: The business transformed a former bank building on Warren Street into an elegant gathering place with soaring ceilings, vintage details, and a nod to the grand cafés of Europe.
While ownership has not announced a reopening date, the statement indicated that the pause does not necessarily mean the end of Banque.
“We remain deeply committed to the vision behind Banque and are exploring what the next chapter may look like,” the statement continues. “While we don’t yet know exactly what form that will take, we are excited by the possibilities and look forward to sharing more when the time is right.”

The closure comes during what is typically one of the busiest periods for Hudson’s hospitality businesses, as the city draws summer visitors from across the region and beyond. At the same time, restaurants and food businesses throughout the Hudson Valley continue to navigate rising costs and a competitive labor market, particularly for concepts requiring specialized culinary and service skills.
“To our guests, neighbors, friends, and everyone who has supported us since we opened our doors, we thank you,” Banque’s statement concludes. “Your enthusiasm and encouragement have meant more than you know, and we are incredibly grateful to have been part of Hudson’s vibrant community.”
Ownership says updates on the future of Banque will be announced as plans develop.
