Estilo y Vino, a wine bar with a fresh energy, opened lat week in Beacon, promising to become a new favorite the cityโs vibrant culinary and craft beverage scene. Nestled on Main Street, this intimate yet lively spot is the creation of a passionate hobby wine lover who wants to showcase fine wines from across the globe. Founded by New Windsor resident Elizabeth Rodriguez,ย space itself, with its dark ceiling and exposed brick, is comfortable yet moody, offering an atmosphere that encourages both quiet sips and social chatter.
But itโs the wine list that steals the show. With more than two dozen options, all available by the glass or bottle, Estilo y Vino introduces patrons to flavors they might not find elsewhere in the Hudson Valley. Here, itโs all about educating the palate. The usual players are well represented here (France, Italy, South Africa, Argentina), there are some less common countries and organic winemakers represented as well. Take theย Edoardo Miroglio Bio Mavrudโa certified organic, full-bodied red from the Thracian Valley of Bulgaria ($12/$48). Or the Erste Lage (Grand Cru-equivalent) mineral-forward rieslingย from German producer Dr. Loosen ($15/$60).
Pair these wines with a thoughtfully curated menu of light bites and tapas-style plates, perfect for sharing or indulging solo. The Pastelitos de Pollo ($13)โcrispy, golden chicken empanadas stuffed with braised sofrito chicken, mozzarella, and queso frescoโare a perfect introduction to the menu, complemented by a tangy chimichurri sauce that balances the richness. The Papas Bravas al Chorizo ($15) offers a punch of flavor, with saffron, paprika, and a zesty lemon aioli that coats the crispy potatoes, while the Roasted Pepper Hummus ($12), served with micro radish and local sourdough bread, is an irresistible dip that brings out the earthiness of the peppers and the creaminess of the hummus. For something heartier, the Seafood Bisque ($15) is a luxurious treatโpacked with scallops, calamari, mussels, shrimp, and octopus, all steeped in saffron and cilantro for a rich, aromatic base. The seared scallops ($21) are another standout, perfectly seared to achieve a crisp exterior, paired with a creamy port sauce, asparagus spears, and crunchy cashews that provide a beautiful contrast in textures.
