Overlook Bakery began as a lockdown project, when pastry chef Rosie DeVito started baking out of her home and delivering cakes around Woodstock. A staple of the Hudson Valley since 1983, Bread Alone is known for its organic, slow fermented loaves made with regional grains. From its carbon-neutral Boiceville facility, the first fossil-fuel-free bakery in the country, the team bakes over wood fired brick ovens that have been used since the companyโs founding. Ahead of Thanksgiving, Bread Alone will offer seasonal pies available for pre-order starting November 7, with 10% off if you order before November 14.

Mid-pandemic, acclaimed baker Nora Allen launched Mel the Bakery on the Lower East Side. The accolades racked up quickly, but when the building went up for sale, Allen decided to move her artisanal breads and gleaming pastries to Hudson. Aside from crackly artisanal breads, the bakery dishes up classic pastries like sourdough chocolate croissants, cinnamon rolls, and rotating pies and danishes with seasonal fruit. The current pie offering is pear almond. Pie pre-ordering is slated to launch sometime in the first week of November.
The Bakery

A New Paltz mainstay for more than four decades, The Bakery is known for its welcoming atmosphere and fall menu that celebrates the seasonโs harvest.
