When Janna Temkin of J & J Property Pros talks about creating โthe ultimate hospitality experience,โ the idea isnโt metaphorical. Itโs a practical philosophy rooted in how people actually want to feel when they walk through their front door: unburdened.
โWe want it to feel almost like walking into a little mini hotel,โ says co-founder Temkin. โYou donโt have to worry about cleaning, you donโt have to worry about the landscaping. You can just come home.โ
Based in the Dutchess County hamlet of Salt Point, J & J Property Pros offers a wide-ranging suite of services under three main pillarsโlandscaping, cleaning, and pet careโdesigned to simplify home ownership by consolidating what often requires multiple contractors into one coordinated team. Seasonal landscaping, snow removal, regenerative garden installs, deep interior cleaning, organizing, window washing, handyman work, and pet sitting all fall within J&Jโs orbit.

That breadth wasnโt accidental. Temkin explains that the business grew out of several overlapping ventures run by her and her siblingsโbrother Jared and sister Jennekaโwho officially merged under the J&J Property Pros name in 2020. โWe had so many overlapping clients,โ she says. โThe more we could provide in-house, the easier it would be for our clients.โ
The โJ & Jโ itself is a nod to their parents, Joe and Joanne, whose entrepreneurial, creative approachโboth studied at Pratt Instituteโshaped how their children think about work. โIf we see a need, our minds are going, โOkay, how can we help fulfill this?โโ Temkin says.
A defining feature of J & Jโs approach is its commitment to sustainability. The company uses battery-powered equipment wherever possible, prioritizes regenerative landscaping techniques, and offers Ripagreenโa hot-air weed remediation method widely used in Europe that avoids chemicals altogether. Interior cleaning follows the same philosophy, emphasizing natural, effective products and maintenance over harsh treatments.

โFor us, itโs about being stewards,โ Temkin saysโof the land, the home, and the people doing the work. โDo we really want our team inhaling fumes all day?
Maintaining quality across such a broad operation comes down to training and culture. J & Jโs eight-person team cross-trains across departments, building respect for each role and encouraging curiosity. โIf thereโs a better way, weโre going to try to learn that better way,โ Temkin says. โWe just want to be the best.โ
Pet care, meanwhile, has become one of the companyโs most personal offerings. What began as clients asking for help with dogs and cats has evolved into a trusted extension of J & Jโs services. โIt deepens the level of trust,โ Temkin says. โYouโre being trusted with someoneโs nearest and dearest.โ
Looking ahead, J & J Property Pros is focused on growthโexpanding its team, deepening its community presence, and continuing to evolve alongside the needs of the homeowners it serves. โJust give us a call,โ Temkin says. โLet us see how we can help.โ
