Want something chic but simple to light up your home? Lucky for you, the sale of the season is here. Niche Modern Lighting will open its Beacon warehouse for the 2018 Spring Factory Sale on Saturday, April 28 and Sunday, April, 29. Itโs your chance to score on handmade lighting fixtures that can give any room in the house a pop of light and color.
The Sale
While we dust out our closets in the spirit of warm weather, Niche is doing some spring cleaning of its own. The in-house sale takes 50 to 80 percent off signature pendant lights. Some items have never been on the market before. Others are Nicheโs classic products with slight imperfections. โWeโll sell some one-of-a-kind, never-before-seen samples that we created here,โ says operations manager Erica Gatsik. โWe also have an entire assortment of lights with very, very minor imperfections that, to the naked eye, you can’t see. We have a very strict cutting process, so theyโre slightly damaged [to our standards].โ
The big, weekend sale is a rare chance to go behind the scenes with Niche. During the year, all products are sold online and the Beacon factory is not open to the public. It opens only for its spring and fall factory sales. For the special occasion, there will be glass-blowing demonstrations in the Hot Shop and finishing demonstrations in the Cold Shop. Guests can witness the artistic and technical processes that go into making the pendantsโ luminous shapes and colors.
โEverything we make is by a team of glass blowers in-studio,โ says marketing assistant Samantha Spoto. โIt’s really nice that we have this facility here in Beacon where they can make everything by hand and go through every process from there.โ
The sale is also a great opportunity for prospective customers to see the products in person, even if theyโre not buying until later. โUsually weโll have clients come in, or realtors with clients,โ Spoto says. โItโs good for them to see the shapes in person. Itโs totally different from looking on the website, you get much better sense of what they look like and can see them lit and hanging in warehouse.โ
โItโs definitely a good time for people who have been interested to come in and see what weโre all about,โ Gatsik adds.
Each pendant sold comes with a cord for hanging and a lightbulb, so customers can leave with everything they need to install their new, home decor statement.
Nicheโs 50 to 80 percent off-offer on factory seconds is available only at its studio location, 310 Fishkill Avenue, Unit 11. On the Niche website, customers can take 20 percent off all regular merchandise from April 27 to April 30.
The Story
Since 2003, Niche has specialized in luxury lighting. Their products are carefully designed and handcrafted by a team of designers, glassblowers, and technicians. Over the years, their collection has expanded to include over 20 different shapes and various colors, all transparent and modern.
Ten years ago, Nicheโs headquarters moved up from New York City and made the Hudson Valley home. The companyโs craftspeople relocated soon after to work out of the Beacon factory.
Every piece begins as a drawing by CEO Jeremy Pyles. The team collaborates on specific details for each design. Then, the piece is glass-blown, inspected, cut, drilled, ground, and polished to perfection in the Beacon studio.
Niche will be open for the Spring Factory Sale on Saturday, April 28 from 10am to 6pm and Sunday, April 29 from 11am to 4pm.
