This July is not for the faint of heart. Whatever’s in motion speeds up, and situations ascend toward their zeniths. We’ll be feeling our ego desires more acutely, and we won’t be afraid to express ourselves. There’s not a lot of planetary movement this month, but there is prolonged contact between the outer planets (Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto). The outer planets are responsible for large-scale changes in environment, story-arc, and foundation. Basically, there was life before July, and then, there’s life after.
The month opens with an explosive Mars-Uranus conjunction in Gemini on July 4. When these two planets get together spontaneous combustion is on the menu. Be situationally aware during these first days of the month, and go slow even if you don’t feel like it. Venus enters Virgo, the sign of its detriment on July 9. In fastidious Virgo, the planet of connection and pleasure might be tempted to martyr itself in the name of control. A new moon in Cancer on July 14 urges us to speak from our hearts no matter how raw our feelings are. This period of time is especially powerful because of the aforementioned outer planet alignments—a Uranus-Pluto trine in particular (the first of five over the next two years) promises fast and thorough transformations in social activism and information technology. This perfects on July 18.
On July 22, the Sun enters magnanimous Leo. For the rest of the month swelling hearts and egos will be checked by Pluto’s need for substantive truth. This tension is further increased by the changing of the lunar nodes from the Virgo-Pisces axis to the Leo-Aquarius axis. For the next 18 months, our yearly eclipses will be focused here; describing a need for integration between authoritative individualism and objective egalitarianism—tempestuous ardor and cool logic.
