Without doubt, the Big Takeover is one of the absolute hardest-working bands in the Hudson Valley. Formed in 2007 as a humble SUNY New Paltz campus band, the reggae greats now tour like mad in the US and abroad and have released a new video ahead of their upcoming return appearance at Club Helsinki this month.

Showcasing the soulful “Rain Boots,” the clip features alluring vocalist NeeNee Rushie in a yellow-slickered homage to Gene Kelly’s iconic downpour-dance scene in the 1952 film Singin’ in the Rain:

The Big Takeover and special guests Root Shock will perform at Club Helsinki in Hudson, New York, on December 29 at 8:30pm. Tickets are $15. For more information, call (518) 828-4800 or visit
