The Rondout Valley: Slideshow

“The Last Best-Kept Secret,” a profile of The Rondout Valley, can be read in the November issue of Chronogram. The valley’s old-fashioned and country-spirited communities have much to offer. The Accord Speedway entertains thousands each year with hundreds of professional and amateur races. The 14-foot smiling garden gnome, known affectionately as “Gnome Chomsky,” is a unique attraction located on Route 209 at Kelder’s Farm in Kerhonkson. At the valley’s core are several farms such as Stone Ridge Orchard and fast growing businesses which include Aroma Thyme Bistro in Ellenville and The Egg’s Nest in High Falls. Also, a plan for a continuous rail trail spanning the length of the Rondout Valley is sure to bring waves of new visitors. The photographs below were taken by Kelly Merchant.
