Poem: Counterpoise
Moss slippery rocks test our feet
As we step across the splashing waters
“Agility now” is the slogan we shout
To our laughing daughters.
They leap in denim shoes,
Heedless of our endeavors,
In a ballet of naiads together.
They have not seen where we have crossed
With visual circumspection
To view in the woodland beyond the slope
A tryst of trillium in blooming perfection!
