Hudson Hall has named choreographer and cultural organizer Adam Weinert as its next executive director. A longtime resident of Hudson and a familiar face in the region’s creative scene, Weinert steps into the role following the departure of Tambra Dillon, whose 13-year tenure oversaw the landmark restoration of New York State’s oldest surviving theater and the expansion of Hudson Hall’s programming into a year-round cultural powerhouse.

Weinert’s connection to Hudson Hall dates back more than a decade, beginning with a 2014 artist residency to develop Monument, a dance work that premiered at Jacob’s Pillow and later toured internationally. He went on to direct the locally beloved holiday production “Rip the Nut” and co-found Waterfront Wednesdays, a free community series on the Hudson riverfront.

“My relationship with Hudson Hall began over 10 years ago, and it’s remained a creative home ever since,” says Weinert. “Stepping into this role is deeply meaningful.”

Weinert brings a hybrid background in performance, administration, and community engagement. He previously served as artistic associate at Kaatsbaan Cultural Park, executive director of the Hudson Sloop Club, chair of the Hudson Arts Coalition, and COO of the Tiger House hotel. In 2020, he launched Jacob’s Garden, a working farm and public art project at Jacob’s Pillow.

“Adam brings a rare combination of visionary artistry and demonstrated leadership,” says Paul Barrett, President of Hudson Hall’s Board. “He has a proven ability to connect with community members, support fellow artists, and manage complex programs with creativity and care.”

A graduate of the Juilliard School and NYU’s Gallatin School, Weinert has presented work at MoMA, Tate Modern, and the Palais Garnier, and has written for the New York Times and PAJ: A Journal of Performance and Art. He is a Bessie Award Honoree.

Dillon, who will work alongside Weinert during a summer transition, expressed confidence in the appointment. “Adam brings fresh energy, deep local knowledge, and a heartfelt commitment to Hudson Hall’s mission as a civic partner and creative hub for our community.”

Weinert will assume the executive directorship full-time this fall.
