The Woodstock-Bearsville area certainly has a respected reputation as being a center of activity by legions of great writers and musicians. On April 30, “A Night of Freewheelin’ Music & Words,” an event featuring discussions by three authors about their most recent books and live music by a dream lineup of top musicians, will take place at the Bearsville Theater in celebration of this proud local lineage.
The initial part of the program will unfold in the Bearsville Theater Lounge present authors David Browne, Francis S. Barry, and John W. Barry to discuss their works: Browne’s Talkin’ Greenwich Village: The Heady Rise and Slow Fall of America’s Bohemian Music Capital: Francis S. Barry’s Back Roads and Better Angels: A Journey Into the Heart of American Democracy, and John W. Barry’s Levon Helm, Rock, Roll & Ramble—The Inside Story of the Man, the Music and the Midnight Ramble.
After the talk, the Turkey Scratch All-Stars, a band made of keyboardist Brian Mitchell (Levon Helm Band, Bob Dylan), trumpeter Steven Bernstein (Levon Helm Band, U2) bass player Mike Merritt (Levon Helm Band, “Late Night with Conan O’Brien” bands), and drummer Eric Parker (Steve Winwood, Joe Cocker) will perform.
“A Night of Freewheelin’ Music & Words” will take place at the Bearsville Theater in Bearsville on April 30 at 7pm. Tickets are $30.
