Launched in 2019, the Hudson Eye festival is a 10-day program that showcases dance, music, performance, film, and visual art within the vibrant Hudson arts community. The festival, which will return this year from August 26 and run through September 6, will present exhibitions, performances, screenings, and more at various venues around the Columbia County hub.
Presented by the Jonah Bokaer Arts Foundation and arranged by locally born curator Aaron Levi Garvey, the Hudson Eye is focused on celebrating the arts community in Hudson while helping to stimulate creativity and connectivity.
The festivalโs organizers partner with local venues and hold daily โHot Topicsโ talks, which are free and open to the public and hosted by guest speakers whose professional affiliations represent the diversity of Hudson; this yearโs โHot Topicsโ will take place at 1pm each day and have been curated by OutHudsonโs executive director, Osun Zotique. Nightly festival events will take place at various venues nightly at 7pm.
โIn dialogue with our local artists and partners,โ says the Hudson Eyeโs mission statement, โwe have sustainably catalyzed an artist-driven program which will be mounted in Hudson annually to build and strengthen our communities through contemporary performance and art celebrating artists thatโฆhave a longstanding commitment to the City of Hudson while also recognizing the next generation of artists who have chosen to call Hudson their home.โ
