Son Rompe Pera

As the great Iggy Pop once sang: โ€œNo wall!โ€

Mexican band Son Rompe Pera beautifully blurs musical borders by crossing classic cumbia with garage punk sounds. Led by marimberos and brothers Alan โ€œMongoโ€ Gama and Jesus Angel โ€œKachoโ€ Gama, the Mexico City-based group, will perform at the Falcon in Marlboro on May 18.

The band’s members were raised around traditional Mexican marimba music and as teenagers played in punk and psychobilly bands. They released Batuco, their debut album, in 2020, and have since become a hit on the festival circuit and performed in sessions for KEXP and NPRโ€™s โ€œTiny Desk Concertโ€ series.

Son Rompe Pera will perform at the Falcon in Marlboro on May 18 at 7pm. Donations for the performers are encouraged; reservations are recommended.
