This delightful, sunny power pop debut hits all the right notes in this frigid winter season.
The Beacon-by-way-of-Norway frontwoman Saugestad has assembled a crack band of some of the Hudson Valley’s finest rock ’n’ rollers, including Fleshtones bassist Ken Fox, Knock Yourself Out guitarist Josh Stark, drummer Adam Napell, and guitarist Mark Westin. “Another Light” rocks with a serrated guitar edge and the melodic hooks that are a hallmark of genre greats from the Bangles to the Records. “2nd Avenue” is a jangly rocker with wistfully nostalgic vibe, and the closing track “Last Days of Summer” is a ballad showcasing Saugestad’s resonant Scandinavian vocals. The band are fresh off a successful November tour of Spain, supporting the legendary Rubinoos. Hopefully, this four-song EP is merely a prologue to a long-playing release.
