I had a bit of internal conflict writing this, since the name of my radio show is “The Secret Show.” Each week, I try to play something different and unique. The ideas for the shows come from major news events, new releases, or just a cool song that I discovered. Here are some of the artists that I have been playing lately.

Angine de Poitrine: Probably the most exciting band to come out in a while. They play a mix of microtonal math rock with a psychedelic twist. They are a two-piece band but incorporate a looper pedal which adds so much texture.

Little Barrie: A great British band fueled by a love of American blues rock who have established themselves as a great psychedelic band. The latest album, Gravity Freeze, is my favorite.

Danalogue: He’s a London-based producer and synthesist. As someone who loves synthesizers, I recognized his use of the Roland SH-09 and Juno-60. He creates dreamy soundscapes that are perfect with a summer backdrop.

Media Puzzle: Another UK act currently based in Australia. These guys play fast, witty, and constantly shifting music. I would put them in the “egg punk” category, which is hard to explain, but you know it when you hear it. It is fast and exciting. Similar to bands like Snooper and Prison Affair.

Spacemoth: This is great, spacey psychedelic music that pairs well with summer. It is the musical project of producer, engineer, and noisemaker Maryann Qudus. She blends cosmic psychedelic pop with pulsating rhythms and looping textures. I’m a big fan of synthesizer-based, dreamy music, and she nails it.

Honorable mentions are: ISTA, Goat, and Glyders.

Bryan Sheehan is the host of “The Secret Show,” which airs Fridays, 9-10pm and in the archives on Radio Catskill. Wjffradio.org
