Paulina Porizkova

Merritt Bookstore in Millerton will get a glimpse of glamor along with some thought-provoking perspectives on womanhood when supermodel turned best-selling author Paulina Porizkova visits the shop to sign copies of her new book, No Filter: The Good, the Bad, and the Beautiful.

Born in Czechoslovakia at the height of the Cold War, Porizkova became one of the worldโ€™s highest-paid models and the face of Estee Lauder cosmetics after appearing on her first Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue cover in 1984. She also served as a judge on the reality TV show โ€œAmericaโ€™s Next Top Modelโ€ from 2008 to 2010. Her first book, the novel A Model Summer, was published in 2007. A mother of two, she was married to singer-songwriter Ric Ocasek of the Cars for 30 years before the couple separated in 2017.

After Ocasekโ€™s 2019 death and the crushing revelation that she and her sons had been written out of the rockerโ€™s will, Porizkova reinvented herself as an inspirational Instagram commentator who has openly and unapologetically chronicled her reemergence from tragedy, embrace of aging, and newfound self-discovery. Touted as a collection of deeply personal and empoweringly honest essays No Filter has drawn praise across the media and from peers like Roseanne Cash, Selma Blair, and Anne Pattchet, the author of These Precious Days.

Paulina Porizkova will talk about No Filter: The Good, the Bad, and the Beautiful and sign copies of the book at Merrit Bookstore in Millbrook on December 23 at 2pm. Copies of the book are available for preorder at the storeโ€™s website to be signed by the author at the event and/or shipped as gifts.
