Washington-bred
singer-songwriter Robert Sarazin Blake is a skilled, artful weaver of words,
the maker of gripping story-poems set to folk rock songs that pulse with rich,
tangible imagery. The tunesmith has solid connections to our area, where he
returns for a run of area shows celebrating the release of his new album Let
the Longing Run Wild & Free that includes a February 13 appearance at
Tubbyโs.
Blakeโs 12th album, 2017โs
Recitative, received an A- from Village Voice critic Robert
Christgau, who compared his songs to those of Bruce Springsteen, Kurt Weill, Lou
Reed, and Van Morrison. For the past 30 years, Blake has toured the pubs,
clubs, and coffeehouses of the US, Canada, England, Germany, and Ireland,
garnering special love in the latter nation AKA the Land of Poets.
Blake’s Hudson Valley backing band stars local aces Cindy Cashdaollar (steel guitar), Connor Kennedy (guitar), Lee Falco (drums), Will Bryant (keyboards), and Brendan Morrison (bass).
Robert Sarazin Blake will
perform at Tubbyโs in Kingston on February 13 at 8pm. Tickets are $13.50.
