On July 23, multidisciplinary arts organization the Women’s Studio Workshop in Rosendale will host its first ever annual book fair. This book fair is part of the larger Upstate Art Weekend, returning for its third year July 22-24 with over 100 exhibitions, performances, and projects plus 50 open studios.

Since 1974, the Women’s Studio Workshop has been working to create a space for artists to establish themselves and grow in any stage of their careers. They strive to support all women, trans, nonbinary, genderfluid, and intersex creatives with a complex of facilities for art creation, research, experimentation, and exhibition prep. Since its founding, WSW has brought over 5,000 artists to their space to create prints, photography, book art, ceramics, and other artwork.

WSW’s event will feature art books by more than 30 artists, writers, and independent publishers, and will run from 10am to 5pm at their location on Binnewater Lane in Rosendale. At the Upstate Art Book Fair, attendants can enjoy shopping for zines, artists’ books, and all printed matter both inside the studio and outside on WSW’s patio. The event aims to create a welcoming platform for both rising and established publishers to sell their work, connect with each other, and share their work with the upstate New York community.

The event will gather creatives both locally and from all over New York. Notable vendors include Secret Riso Club located in Ridgewood and Small Editions and Wendy’s Subway, both from Brooklyn.

Following the book fair, there will be a free celebration from 7pm to 10pm that kicks off with an opening exhibition from Passenger Pigeon Press, Childish Books, and GenderFail, followed by a dance party.
