Born and raised in Music City, USAโNashville, Tennessee, in case you didnโt knowโLaura Cantrell studied accounting in college. Thankfully for lovers of real-deal country sounds, however, sheโs augmented her career as a Bank of America numbers-cruncher (and host of WFMUโs โRadio Thrift Shopโ) with her better-known vocation as a critically acclaimed singer-songwriter and recording artist. On the heels of No Way There From Here (Spit and Polish Records), her fifth studio album, Cantrell will perform at BSP Lounge on April 24.
Recorded in her hometown, No Way There From Here is Cantrellโs first originals-dominated release since 2005โs Humming by the Flowered Vine (Matador Records). The new disc has drawn praise for its makerโs bell-clear voice and the highly personal feel of her story-songs, which, Rolling Stone says, โilluminate more than explainโjust enough to make you want to hear โem again.โ
