Maria Muldaur is best known for her 1973 hit “Midnight at the Oasis,” but in truth that disco smash isn’t so representative of her career, which has shown her to be a blues and jazz singer of exceptional quality. In the 1960s, she was a member of the Even Dozen Jug Band, which also included John Sebastian and David Grisman, and Jim Kweskin and the Jug Band, which also featured her ex-husband Geoff Muldaur. In addition to performing alongside Bob Dylan in the early ’60s Greenwich Village folk scene, Maria was also a vital part of the Woodstock music scene that followed. And she’ll return to the latter fold when she appears at Colony on October 7.
Born in Greenwich Village itself, Muldaur as well went on to perform with the Grateful Dead and others, and was nominated for a Grammy in 2005 and 2013.
