David Brickman has been an artist, a journalist, and a curator for more than 25 years. His photographs have been shown regionally and internationally in more than 100 exhibitions and are in the permanent collections of the George Eastman House in Rochester, the Albany Institute of History and Art, the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris, and numerous other public and private collections. David has been the fine arts contributor for “Roundtable” on WAMC Northeast Public Radio; has written art criticism for Metroland, the Times Union, and other publications; and frequently judges art exhibits and grant competitions. His most recent solo exhibition was in 2006 at OK Harris in New York City. His Portfolio look at photographer Phyllis Galembo begins on page 42.


 

Kathy Ceceri is a freelance writer, teacher, craft designer, and artist who lives in Saratoga with her husband and two sons. Her stories on the arts, travel, learning, and family life have appeared in the Times Union, The Advocate, Adirondack Life, and Family Fun, and she has won awards from the New York State Association of Foreign Language Teachers and the New York Press Association. Kathy leads creative workshops for children on history and science, and writes the “Hands-On Learning” column for Home Education Magazine. Her first book, World History through Crafts, is due out in August, and her second, a guide to short-term home schooling, is expected in Fall 2007. Kathy’s website is www.craftsforlearning.com. Robin Catalano is a freelance writer and editor of fiction and nonfiction. Her articles have appeared in a variety of regional and national magazines, including Gourmet, Culinary Trends, Santé, Let’s Live, Berkshires Week, Dance Spirit, Stage Directions, and Berkshire Living, for which she is also a contributing editor. A part-time jewelry designer based in Stephentown, Robin is a nature and animal aficionado and the author of Storey’s Barn Guide to Horse Health Care and First Aid (Storey Publishing, 2007). She takes us inside Pittsfield’s Brix Wine Bar on page 68.


 

 

 

Molly Belmont is a freelance writer and editor. She graduated from Barnard College with a B.A. in English in 2001, and will begin her M.A. in English at the University at Albany in September. She has worked in publishing and journalism for several years. In 2004, she won first place for writing from the New York Press Association. After living in several places across the country, Molly has chosen to put down roots in upstate New York. She lives in downtown Albany with her husband, Paul, and a betta fish named Finn.
