Sip & Sign for the Holidays with 25 Authors | Books & Authors | Hudson Valley | Chronogram Magazine

There's nothing quite like the enjoyment of a great book, except if you pair it with a fine glass of wine! That's the premise behind the 5th annual Sip & Sign hosted by Millbrook Winery on Saturday, November 9th, from 1-4PM (Free and open to all).

This extraordinary gathering, an event to delight book lovers and wine lovers alike, offers a rare chance to find that special gift for everyone on your holiday shopping list. While enjoying Millbrook's wonderful wines and tempting treats from The Poughkeepsie Ice House, Crown Maple and Black-Eyed Suzie's, you will meet 25 authors from all over the Hudson Valley.

Sip & Sign is held in Millbrook Winery's spacious circular loft where attendees can strike up a conversation with an array of colorful personalities:

Brent Ridge (a doctor) and Josh Kilmer-Purcell (an advertising executive), left the fast lane in Manhattan for life on an upstate farm and now own one of the fastest growing lifestyle brands in the country. A reality show about their efforts, The Fabulous Beekman Boys, airs on the Cooking Channel. And last year they competed and won the grand prize in CBS-TV's The Amazing Race, a 45,000 mile journey around the world. They are the authors of the best selling Beekman 1802 Heirloom Cookbook and are eager to share their experiences.

Gianni Scappin, world-class chef and owner of the restaurants Market St. in Rhinebeck and Cucina in Woodstock, as well as a professor at the Culinary Institute, will be signing his newest book, Pasta, with over 150 phenomenal recipes built around pantry staples. Born in northern Italy, near Venice, Gianni's parents owned a small restaurant and the emphasis on fresh local products in his recipes has a long family tradition.

Kevin Zraly, winner of the 2011 James Beard Lifetime Achievement Award, will be signing his Windows on the World Complete Wine Course. Discover how to find that $10 bottle of wine that tastes like it cost $20 or more.

•Have you wondered how to bring wild plants safely to the table? Wendy Hollender, author of Foraging & Feasting: A Complete Wild Flower Food & Field Guide, reveals everything you need to know in this beautifully illustrated volume.

•The literary luminary of the sport of fly fishing, Nick Lyons, will be signing several of his fly fishing books….and will explain what the sport is all about to neophytes.

•For those who enjoy the finer things in life, an American designer's passion for Italian art and architecture is showcased in The Italy of My Dreams, a stunning coffee table book packed with photos of Italy at its best.

Joan Harrison's, You Can Count on Gracie, a book about her dog, will be signed (paw print, of course!) by Gracie herself, in fact a co-author; she will also be attending Sip & Sign.

This is just a sampling of the fascinating folks who will be sipping and signing. So take a ride to Millbrook Winery and join the fun on Saturday afternoon, November 9th. Hope to see you there!
