L to R: The Waterboys' Mike Scott and Brother Paul.
Folk rock greats the Waterboys will appear in a special acoustic evening at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock on May 14.

Formed by Scottish singer-songwriter Mike Scott in 1981, the Waterboys’ lineup has expanded and contracted over their 14 studio albums to date, leading Scott to describe the group as “myself and whoever are my current travelling musical companions.” Fusing the Celtic soul of Van Morrison; the roots consciousness of The Band; the poetic stylings of Patti Smith, Bob Dylan, and Bruce Springsteen; the anthemic feel of the Clash; and traditional Anglo folk, the Waterboys’ sound is sweeping and rich. The band’s breakthrough album is 1988’s sublime Fisherman’s Blues, while their latest, 2022’s All Souls Hill, which explores hip-hop-influenced and electronic production techniques. The Woodstock concert will feature the duo of Scott and Brother Paul.

The Waterboys will perform at Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock on May 14 at 8pm. Anana Kaye will open. Tickets are $65 (reserved seating) and $45 (standing room).
