Grillsdale Comes to Hillsdale | Daily Dose | Hudson Valley | Chronogram Magazine

What’s more American than grilling outside? Competition. Grillsdale, a new tasting event, invites eight regionally acclaimed chefs from Amenia to Chatham to sizzle up their grills in a friendly competition. Using locally sourced meat and produce from the Roe Jan’s region’s farms, the chefs will create small plates for attendees to enjoy.

Rolo Scarpetti is the special guest of the evening. An Argentine with Italian descent, Chef Rolo Scarpetti runs Cocinero Nomade (which translates to The Nomad Cook) in Southern Brazil. A frequent visitor of the Hudson Valley during his off-season, Scarpetti has cooked at the Farmer’s Wife in Ancramdale.

At Grillsdale, Scarpetti plans to cook Bondiola, an Argentine street food that consists of braised pork shoulder in a light bread. Charlie Norman will go “south of the border” with his mouthwatering Pork Belly Tacos. Vegetarians don’t fret—Justin Panzer will keep you satisfied with his farm-fresh-veggie mixed grill.
