One of the leading critics of GMOs, Jeffrey Smith, will speak about the dangers of genetically modified organisms in our foods in an event at SUNY New Paltz on Monday, April 7, 2014. Smith is the founder and executive director of the Institute for Responsible Technology, the author of Genetic Roulette:The Documented Health Risks of Genetically Engineered Foods, and director of the award-winning film of the same name.

Smith's talk will follow an hourlong Healthy Living Fair that will take place in the south lobby of Lecture Center 100. The fair will showcase area farms and organizations that promote non-GMO foods and a healthy lifestyle, along with live music by Joakim and Chris, and organic tasting samples by Gomen Kudasai.

Both events are free and open to the public. The Healthy Living Fair kicks off at 6 p.m., followed by Smith's talk at 7 p.m. in Lecture Center 100 on the SUNY New Paltz campus. For more information contact [email protected].
