Priorities change once kids are in the picture: As Arlene Deahl, who started her own baking business, says, "After you have the baby, you never want to leave them." Flexibility in the work schedule becomes important. The desire to put in 50-hour weeks, endure long commutes, and climb the corporate ladder lessens.
