Hudson Valley Good Stuff

Cari Meltzer, the owner of The Looking Glass Bed & Breakfast in the village of Rhinebeck gave me a tour of her beautiful inn last year. The inn is very quaint and cozy, and has 4 beautifully decorated rooms, all named after special moments in her life. On the Monday I visited, she was waiting for a couple from the Netherlands and another couple from South Africa. The guests are usually couples, women travelling together, singles, or couples with college-seeking children. She does welcome children over 12, or younger ones if they are part of a larger group or family that rents all four rooms.

The bed and breakfast is a 2 minute walk to Rhinebeck village so the location is ideal for tourists. I really love the veranda. It reminds me of a bed and breakfast I stayed at in Cape May. The Looking Glass Bed and Breakfast launched a "Signature Stays" package last year which offers weekend visitors a custom made itinerary so they don't have to plan a thing before their Hudson Valley vacation. If you have visitors coming up to visit you in the Hudson Valley who want an extra special getaway in Rhinebeck, The Looking Glass Bed and Breakfast will treat them like VIPs. The bed and breakfast is booked on the weekends through October, but has openings and special deals during the week at the moment. Meltzer says she can offer guests who book extended stays (3+ nights) during the week a good rate. The Looking Glass Bed and Breakfast will also be open through Thanksgiving weekend.
